3. Darius Jackson, Running back

In Week 1 of the preseason, running back Darius Jackson didn’t stand out. In week 2, things were different. Playing late in the game Jackson started to run through the Cincinnati defense and finished the game with 42 yards on just six carries. He also showed he can be a weapon in the passing game as he pulled in four catches for 22 yards.

As it stands now, Jackson is fourth on the depth chart and fighting for a spot. He’s become a bit of a fan favorite after the Boys drafted him in the sixth round back in 2016 — the same year they took Ezekiel Elliott in the first round.

Jackson was a hard runner at Eastern Michigan and had some impressive tape and played well in the preseason. He wasn’t able to beat out Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris however and was cut. He spent that season and last with the Cleveland Browns — although he was been injured for most of that time.

Now back in Dallas, fans are remembering why he was so liked the first time around. Jackson is incredibly quick and is hard to take down. Still, he has a long road in front of him with Elliott entrenched as the starter and Rod Smith in firm control of the second spot.

Rookie Bo Scarbrough looks to be third, but a hip injury against the Bengals may have opened the door for Jackson. He’s no lock either way, but Saturday was a huge step in the right direction for him.
