2. Kony Ealy, Defensive End

This is weird to say after the way the defensive end position was such a soft spot for years, but the Dallas Cowboys have an overabundance of talent at the position right now. During the offseason they placed a franchise tag on DeMarcus Lawrence following a breakout campaign and they also added Kony Ealy, a player they liked coming into the NFL that same season.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Ealy gave them great depth behind Lawrence, but then Dallas added more when they selected Dorrance Armstrong in the fourth-round this season out of Kansas. He’s been excelling so far in camp, as has 2018 first-round pick Taco Charlton. The Michigan product was credited with a sack in Week 2 and was in on a hit that forced a fumble which Dallas recovered.

As good as those options have been, they’re not moving Tyrone Crawford off his starting job. He’s not a world beater in the pass rush department, but Crawford is a beast against the run and does help in setting up stunts for some of the other pass rusher on the team. He does the dirty work no one notices, except of course the coaches.

Then we also saw Randy Gregory come back after a long suspension. While he has a ways to go, his pass rushing potential is through the roof. All that could leave Ealy on the outside looking in, unless he shows something these final two weeks that makes the team want to go heavy at the position.
