Despite the fact he broke a clubhouse rule when he disclosed an injury that wasn’t reported and hasn’t played in either game in the preseason, Terrelle Pryor will make the New York Jets 53-man roster.

At the beginning of camp, New York Jets wide receiver Terrelle Pryor was in a walking boot. It was originally believed to be a result of a surgery that was to clean up an old surgery. Recently, however, Pryor revealed that it was because he broke his ankle. This prompted head coach Todd Bowles to speak out against what his wide receiver had done, according to Bleacher Report.

The Jets have clearly been careful with Pryor after he broke his ankle, as not many other receivers have broken out this camp or preseason. The Jets have also been careful with offensive linemen this preseason and camp. So the fact that he’s been limited and hasn’t played any preseason games doesn’t mean that he won’t make the team.

Teams are typically careful with veterans in camp, even ones they expect to make the team. It makes sense, because if they expect a player to make the team, they don’t want a player to make an injury worse.

If healthy, Pryor already proved he can be an impact player in the NFL. Some may question how he’s rubbed his teammates the wrong way in two instances, but so far, there hasn’t been any backlash from the Jets locker room. He gives the Jets depth they don’t have at the position. Pryor also gives Darnold a valuable big target in the red zone. That would give him Pryor, Quincy Enunwa and the tight ends to throw to.

In the end, the fact that he hasn’t played in preseason games isn’t enough to keep him off the team. He provides the Jets with so much that the other receivers — outside the top three — don’t.
