Is there an imminent trade between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets involving Dante Fowler?

Since Monday, news from the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp has been very low key. Dante Fowler returned to practice after his week long suspension.

Currently, there are reports that the New York Jets have inquired about Fowler’s availability.

Manish Mehta of New York Daily News reported the following:

"Gang Green reached out to the Jaguars to gauge their interest level in trading uber-talented — and mercurial — defensive end Dante Fowler, Jr., according to sources."

Would the Jaguars actually pull the trigger on a deal? Would Teddy Bridgewater be involved in the deal? Most of all, what is Dave Caldwell’s response on the question of Fowler’s availability?

It’s a little difficult to believe that Caldwell would move Fowler at this point in time. The Jaguars have a ferocious pass rush which includes him. Remember, the Jaguars declined his contract option for next season.

Fowler will hit the free agent market in March. Expect him to have a monstrous season to prove his worth for a big paycheck unless he gets in trouble, again. Has he worn out his welcome in the Jaguars locker room due to his off the field antics?

If there is a trade, who would Jacksonville acquire? Is Bridgewater a realistic possibility? What would Bridgewater add to the Jaguars offense? Here are his career numbers.

Bridgewater was the Minnesota Vikings first round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft after playing at Louisville. He started 28 games in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He completed 551 passes for 6150 yards with 28 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

He missed the 2016 season due to an injury. Last season, he threw an interception in two passing attempts. Since his Pro Bowl season of 2015, he has been trying to recover from his injury. Caldwell has built the Jaguars roster with quality depth. Fowler will probably leave Jacksonville and enter free agency. Perhaps Caldwell’s response is “not available”.
