Does the offense run smoothly and effectively?

One of the reasons Nagy is in Chicago is because of his offensive mind. He runs a modern, pass-happy offense. It’s the type of offense that most teams run today. Former head coach John Fox ran a pedestrian run-heavy offense and that just didn’t cut it. The Bears ranked near the bottom of most offensive categories. With Nagy and offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich, the Bears should have a fun, high-octane offense.

The additions of quality receivers help a lot as well. The Bears now have receivers who can create separation and make catches consistently. Additionally, their tight end corps should be good.

We haven’t seen that high-powered offense yet, however. The starting offense had trouble moving the ball. Of course, most of that is due to the fact that a lot of the starters haven’t played. We have yet to see Allen Robinson play, for example. Robinson should see some playing time this week.

When the offense played some extended time last week against the Broncos, though, it did fairly well. Mitch Trubisky made some nice throws, got a touchdown and showed how his legs can get him out of trouble. He did have the interception, but that was more on Tarik Cohen, who didn’t finish his route and allowed the defender to jump in.

Jordan Howard got the blood flowing as he made some nifty and power moves to gain yards. He looks ready to start the regular season. I expect big things for him this season. With extended playing time, Nagy’s offense should look better. He won’t show his entire repertoire, but we’ll get a nice glimpse of what to expect this season.

It’ll be interesting to see how the offense looks with the extended time.
