Indianapolis Colts: Get Andrew Luck in rhythm

This year is going to be a success for the Indianapolis Colts regardless of their final record. That’s not just hyperbole either. After quarterback Andrew Luck had surgery on his shoulder in January of 2017, the team thought he may miss a little time that year. He wound up missing the entire season.

They had to call an audible at the beginning of the year and turn to Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. He came in unprepared since they traded for him at the end of the preseason. With limited time to prepare, he wasn’t able to get rolling for several weeks and the roster around him wasn’t great.

Indianapolis had hoped to get Luck back this season, but they still weren’t sure. They even reportedly turned down trade offers for Brissett — likely because they not only knew his value but also because Luck still hadn’t thrown a football for most of the offseason.

He’s finally back now, but expecting him to be his old self straight out of the gates would be unwise. He’s a great player, so he will be fine, but this season they’re getting him back in rhythm and hoping to find some weapons around him that can help the Colts become competitive once again in what’s suddenly a much stronger AFC South.
