Kansas City Chiefs: Continue to control the AFC West

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting plenty of love right now from all over the place. Second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes has made people fall in love with him thanks to the rocket arm of his and he’s also still improving as a passer with every game.

Kansas City liked the Texas tech product enough to move up from No. 27 to 10 in the draft last season and after having him sit behind veteran Alex Smith for a year, he’s ready to take them to new heights. Or at least to where they’ve been.

This season the Chiefs should be able to maintain control of the AFC West. They’re the most balanced team in the division and they have great stability at head coach in Andy Reid. They just don’t seem like they’ll be in the Super Bowl mix this year.

That’s not to say they can’t come close. They could win a game or two in the playoffs — depending if they get a bye — and land in the AFC title game. Still, Mahomes is young and raw. They aren’t at the point yet where he can make the plays necessary to win it all.
