Miami Dolphins: Figure out if they need a rebuild

Things aren’t great for the Miami Dolphins, even if they don’t want to admit it. 2017 was a disaster, but they think that’s because they lost quarterback Ryan Tannehill. That’s not the case though.

In 2016, Tannehill wasn’t playing well and the team was losing. Suddenly, Jay Ajayi burst onto the scene for the Dolphins and they started winning. The powerful running back hit 200-plus yards three times in a year and he fueled their run for a playoff spot.

Then in 2017, he was traded when Adam Gase decided to make a culture change in the locker room. With Jay Cutler left to run the offense, things went south fast. Had Tannehill been healthy, nothing would have been different.

The best thing this team can accomplish in 2018 is realizing that. Gase has been iffy as a head coach and Tannehill isn’t reliable under center. Not only does he not carry an offense, but injuries are becoming the norm as he wasn’t even on the field when they did play in the 2016 postseason due to his knee.

It’s a tough thing for a team to admit, but they need to do it sooner or later. The quicker they realize it, the better.
