Minnesota Vikings: Become better than the Pack
This offseason, the Minnesota Vikings made a huge investment in their future. They gave quarterback Kirk Cousins $84 million guaranteed over three seasons to come over from the Washington Redskins. After three straight seasons with 4,000-plus yards, the Vikings were convinced he could bring their passing game to the next level.
Equally attractive to the Vikings is the fact that Cousins suited up for 16 games in each of the past three seasons as well. They’ve had issues in that department as Teddy Bridgewater was hurt before the 2016 season started and they traded for Sam Bradford. He too had injury problems and that led to them starting Case Keenum for the majority of last season.
Keenum was a good starter and led them to a 13-3 season and the NFC Championship Game. However, there’s a sense that may not have happened had Aaron Rodgers stayed healthy. For the most part, he’s been a killer for this team and they have finished behind them in five of the past seven seasons.
With Cousins in town, the goal is simple — become better than Green Bay. If they can do that, they could be in the big game. Unfortunately, they won’t be the first team to play the Super Bowl in their own stadium, but it was fun watching them get close to that last year.
