New England Patriots: Lombardi Trophy No. 6

We all know the best case scenario for the New England Patriots. They seem to always be in the hunt for a Super Bowl ring and they came up just short of winning No. 6 this past season. They’re now 5-3 overall in the Super Bowl during Tom Brady’s career, which is about as impressive a feat as possible.

More impressive is he’s going to be 42 this season and so far in the preseason looks as good as ever. His longevity in the game isn’t unprecedented, but no one has stayed as good as long as he has. There’s no noticeable drop off in his play and every time he steps on the field, they have a shot to win.

New England made some interesting moves as well this offseason, one was dumping wideout Brandin Cooks. They did add Cordarrelle Patterson, who while he isn’t as good as Cooks by a long shot, does seem to fit their system. Eric Decker has also been brought on and on defense, they landed nose tackle Danny Shelton to help in their run defense.

None of those moves seem like anything spectacular, but they all had a purpose and once again New England is the favorite in the AFC.
