Carolina Panthers: Find consistency
For years now, the Carolina Panthers have been an inconsistent team. A 12-4 season in 2013 was followed by a 7-8-1 campaign in 2014. They shrugged that off as they had their best season in history the following year in winning 15 games and losing only once. That was, of course, the year quarterback Cam Newton won the MVP and they made a trip to the Super Bowl.
After losing the big game to Denver, Carolina looked lost at times in 2016. That season, they lost 10 games while winning just six. The roller coaster continued in 2017 as they made the playoffs as a Wild Card team with an 11-5 record.
By that token, they should be a losing team this season. They have enough talent to avoid that and really 2018 needs to be all about stacking positive seasons on top of one another. We know they have players capable of making a big run because we’ve seen it. What we haven’t seen is them show their skill consistently.
Newton does have some new weapons this season at his disposal. Wide receiver D.J. Moore and tight end Ian Thomas join a cast that includes wideout Curtis Samuel and running back Christian McCaffrey. Maybe him being able to spread the burden of success out some on offense will help them achieve that goal. If so, the sky is the limit for this team.
