Great depth at the wide receiver position

There was an official Brandon Marshall sighting, for the first time since 2016, on Friday. The big receiver caught three passes for 34 yards, including an impressive twisting grab over cornerback Xavier Rhodes. Keenan Reynolds also contributed with three receptions of his own but only for 25 yards. Neither receiver had a catch this preseason until this game.

Rookie Caleb Scott also contributed with two catches and 69 yards. Former Philadelphia Eagle, Marcus Johnson also hauled in an impressive sideline catch for 34 yards. Now it’s unlikely we’ll see a ton of Scott, assuming he makes the roster, or even Johnson for that matter during the regular season. Still, it’s important that the team has options behind Doug Baldwin, Marshall, and the underwhelming Tyler Lockett.

Lockett might actually stand to lose snaps if he fails to produce during the season. The team didn’t have players who could win snaps from him before this season. Hopefully that will motivate the return man to contribute more on the offense.

It’s also worth noting that David Moore, who I’ve written about several times this Preseason, also flashed briefly. He had a 36-yard touchdown catch that briefly put Seattle in the lead in the fourth quarter. While Baldwin will clearly be the only star receiver on the Seahawks this year, the team had built up what looks like a reliable rotation of players capable of contributing in their own unique ways.
