2. Once again, dropped passes were the Falcons Achilles heel

I have never seen so many unlucky interceptions than the ones I saw in 2017 from Matt Ryan. His talented group of teammates consistently let him down, causing numerous turnovers because of their inability to hold onto the football in the process of making the catch. Needless to say, if there’s one thing the Falcons cannot afford to do again in 2018, it’s struggling with dropped passes.

Unfortunately, once again, we saw far too many dropped passes for Atlanta on Saturday night against the Jaguars. While most of them came from rookie wide receiver Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu may have had the toughest dropped-pass of the entire night.

Sure, Jacksonville’s safety made one heck of a play on the football, but Sanu’s drop ultimately kept the Falcons out of the end-zone. In a matchup against the Jags where touchdowns were surely going to be hard to come by, those types of mistakes are killers, absolute back-breakers.

At the end of the day, if the Dirty Birds are going to drop passes, I’d rather it happen during the month of August. If we’re being honest, this team is one of the best teams in the NFL, but if they can’t get out of their own way, they’ll struggle to make it back to the postseason for the third-straight year.
