The Chicago Bears took on the Kansas City Chiefs in a preseason Week 3 matchup. We look at three takeaways from the game.

The Chicago Bears played in front of the home crowd for the first time this offseason. The Kansas City Chiefs, former employers of Bears head coach Matt Nagy, came to town. The Bears won their second game in a row to even out their record, but that isn’t the important part of this. Players battling for starting and roster sports was the important thing on Saturday.

Nagy made an announcement the day before the game which allowed the battles to go longer. He decided to rest his starters and not have them see any time until they face the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 of the season.

That move caused a mini-uproar. The Week 3 matchup in the preseason is usually the dress rehearsal for the regular season. Starters usually play into the third quarter. Not on this day. Nagy decided to shut down his starters without showing much of his vaunted offense. He hasn’t given much for the Packers or any other team to see on film. He wants to keep things mysterious.

With the starters benched and the desperate players seeing extended playing time, let’s take a look at three takeaways from the game.
