22. Detroit Lions (22)

Falling shy of the playoffs last season was beyond frustrating for the Lions since the team seemed to be in control of their own destiny towards the end of last season, but at least early signs point to this team being a contender in the NFC during 2018 once again. Hiring Matt Patricia seems well worth the risk for the Lions when looking at his history of working with defenses, but as everyone knows, Matthew Stafford will be the reason behind the team’s success.

Forget about how awful Detroit’s defense looked against Tampa Bay during their preseason win in Week 3 since this was a sloppy game overall, and the most important thing is they still came through with the win. And as long as the defense comes through on their end when it matters the most during the regular season so Stafford can do his part, this is all that really matters.

Stafford has always been the kind of quarterback that makes the players around him better, and seeing him finally have a reliable backfield thanks to key additions at running back like LeGarrette Blount will work wonders for this offense. Not to mention, the Lions will need all of the extra help they can get playing in a tough division in the NFC North.
