2018 NFL Power Rankings: Concerns for Eagles following Week 3 preseason
By Dan Parzych
10. Atlanta Falcons (12)
One can only imagine how different the rest of the playoffs would have been last year if Julio Jones had caught that touchdown pass towards the end of the Divisional Round against the Eagles, but at least early signs point to the Atlanta Falcons being contenders once again in the conference. On paper, the Falcons are loaded with talent for Matt Ryan to work with in players like Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman, but adding Calvin Ridley to the mix makes them even more dangerous.
In a way, Atlanta was surprised to see Ridley fall as late in the first round as he did, and it was easy to see why they didn’t hesitate to select him at No. 26 when they did. An offense like the Falcons can always use another dangerous weapon for Ryan to work with, and despite their 0-3 record in the preseason, there’s no reason to worry.
Knowing Atlanta, Dan Quinn’s squad is just waiting for the meaningful games to get underway to begin playing at the level everyone knows they’re capable of. With this in mind, it only seems fair to place the Falcons at No. 10 with the belief they will potentially move up once September arrives.
