Oakland Raiders: Final predictions for most surprising 2018 roster cuts
With roster cuts just around the corner, let’s look into the crystal ball and predict which Oakland Raiders players could surprisingly be shown the door.
Predicting roster cuts can be like trying to sleuth the eventual winner of the upcoming Super Bowl — it’s difficult. That should ring true for the Oakland Raiders, who seem primed to make some surprising moves to trim the roster down to 53 men.
It only makes sense, seeing as Jon Gruden is now the guy calling the shots. The new head coach has taken an unorthodox approach since taking the reins, turning his attention to aging veterans instead of focusing on building towards a brighter future. Mark Davis paid him $100 million, though, so it’s his team to ruin if he so pleases.
Regardless of Gruden’s ability to lead this team (or lack thereof), it’s anyone’s guess what the final roster will look like. Sitting around waiting for the walking papers to be handed out, though, isn’t any fun. So instead of patiently twiddling our thumbs until that day comes, let’s speculate on what the future could hold for this Oakland squad.
More specifically, let’s look at a few Raiders players who could surprisingly be sent packing when the final 53-man roster is set.
So without further ado, here are three Raiders I’m predicting will surprisingly be asked to turn in their playbooks in the near future. It’s a tough pill to swallow when the call comes, but it’s also part of life in the NFL. Or so “Hard Knocks” would lead us to believe.
