New offensive weapons

The Seahawks did suffer a blow when Paul Richardson left the team in free agency. He was their second best receiver in 2017, only trailing Pro Bowler Doug Baldwin. In his place the team has added a plethora of talented players who can cycle in and contribute.

More from Seattle Seahawks

First of all, Brandon Marshall was the biggest name brand addition to the offense in the offseason. Marshall gives the team a big-bodied redzone threat and can work to replace the production Jimmy Graham brought the team in that area for the last few years. The team also added wide receiver Jaron Brown, who had the best season of his career in 2017.

They also traded for Marcus Johnson from the Philadelphia Eagles and signed Keenan Reynolds. Reynolds is a former college quarterback turned receiver. There’s a chance he doesn’t make the final roster, but he’s a crazy athlete with a lot of potential. The receiving corps as a whole isn’t star-studded, but it has grown into a deep rotation of players who are all capable of contributing.

Turning our eyes toward the running game, the team drafted Rashaad Penny in the first round of the draft. The Seahawks weak run game has haunted them since Marshawn Lynch left the team. Getting the running game going again, or at least adding a receiving threat out of the backfield, will be huge. The team will also get Chris Carson back after he missed most of last season with an injury. Hopefully the running back duo will be able to take some pressure off of Wilson and make a few big plays of their own.
