O-Line Armageddon?

If the worst case scenario were to come about, what would the Cowboys do? Depth on the offensive line is not great. The entire Cowboys’ offense is predicated on excellent line play. If offensive line Armageddon happens, the Cowboys season could go up in flames.

All these injury scenarios aside, the Cowboys are still dealing with two players who are question marks. La’el Collins needs to improve over last year’s performance at right tackle. Connor Williams is making a transition from tackle to guard during his rookie year. How these two progress is key to the performance of the offensive line this year.

The Cowboys offense is based off running the football and throwing off play-action passes. This style works great with a dominant offensive line. If that line were to fall apart, the Cowboys would find themselves without the pieces to run their offense.

A run-first offense without a dominant offensive line does not succeed to today’s NFL where defenders are faster and athletic. Gone are the days of the thumper linebacker whose sole job is to stop the run. And the Cowboys offense is not designed to succeed in a league with hybrid players and multiple front schemes without a dominant offensive line.
