The Green Bay Packers head to Los Angeles for a regular season game for the first time since 1991. How will one of the NFC’s marquee match-ups in 2018 play out?

As the NFL returns to Los Angeles, so too will the Green Bay Packers. Once the Rams decided to move back to the City of Angels, a showdown between the two storied franchises was a guarantee.

Luckily it comes sooner rather than later as the new NFL schedule format requires each team to play an entire division within their respective conference. 2018 will see the Packers face each NFC West team throughout the season.

Barring a potential playoff game, this is likely the last time the Packers will play at the world famous L.A. Coliseum. With the Rams and Chargers expected to move into the Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park in August 2020.

With that, let’s take a look at this Week 8 matchup between the Packers and Rams.

Week 8 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Overall, the Packers have had great success against the Rams franchise. However, in the last year, the Rams have improved tremendously. From hiring Sean McVay as head coach, former first-round pick Jared Goff emerging as a franchise quarterback and the Rams adding numerous playmakers on defense, this team has become an NFC powerhouse.

This team is stacked all around. They are in “win-now” mode. Just in the 2018 offseason, they added Brandin Cooks, Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Ndamukong Suh and even Sam Shields. They may have one of the leagues best rosters. Add that to the fact that LA has one of the leagues best running backs in Todd Gurley. This offense can beat you multiple ways. The Packers defense may not be able to handle it.

The Rams defense is one of the few in the league that can actually stop Aaron Rodgers too. The Rams may have the best defense right now. The only thing holding them back is how all of the personalities will mesh. If they can’t figure that out, it could be costly. Packers fans know all about Ndamukong Suh and his antics. Aqib Talib has had some issues as well.

This game will be tough, maybe one of the toughest games of the year. The Rams are a favorite to not only win the NFC but win the Super Bowl.

The Rams defense will be able to, for the most part, shut down the only hope the Packers have; Aaron Rodgers carrying the team like he usually does. Also, the Rams have too much firepower on offense. The Packers young defense will have a very tough time stopping it.

Prediction: Packers lose, 27-17
