New Orleans Saints: 2018 Season preview, prediction and more
Record Prediction
Predicting a team’s record is never easy, but there’s still a level of fun to it. With the Saints though, it does seem a bit easier as they’re one of the most hyped teams in the league right now. Of course, they’re also in one of the toughest divisions so there’s always going to be some uncertainty.
Enough delaying the inevitable though so let’s get into the Saints schedule and a prediction of what their record could/hopefully will be.
- Week 1 vs Buccaneers: Win
- Week 2 vs Browns: Win
- Week 3 vs Falcons: Loss
- Week 4 vs Giants: Win
- Week 5 vs Redskins: Win
- Week 6: BYE
- Week 7 vs Ravens: Loss
- Week 8 vs Vikings: Win
- Week 9 vs Rams: Loss
- Week 10 vs Bengals: Win
- Week 11 vs Eagles: Win
- Week 12 vs Falcons: Win
- Week 13 vs Cowboys: Loss
- Week 14 vs Buccaneers: Win
- Week 15 vs Panthers: Win
- Week 16 vs Steelers: Win
- Week 17 vs Panthers: Loss
Of the 16 games, I see the Saints winning 11 of them and losing five. Obviously, the losses are most notable so let’s get into them. Their first loss will come at the hands of the Falcons as is customary. The Saints and Falcons rivalry is hotter than ever so the game is sure to be a must-watch with the Saints on the losing end.
The Ravens are incredibly hyped up this offseason and the Saints could struggle against them. What the team lacks in offense, they make up for in defense and the Saints could have issues. Another heavy-handed defense is the Rams who snapped the Saints winning streak last year and with vast improvement and Brandin Cooks, there’s history.
The last two losses for the Saints will come via the Cowboys and the Panthers. The Saints and Cowboys are in pretty similar situations, but I see the Cowboys offense getting a bit of an edge on their defense. As for the Panthers, it’s usually a draw so with a playoff run, they’re likely to rest their starters.
The team has a pretty decent schedule and should be able to get a few easy wins. Even losing Mark Ingram for the first four games shouldn’t affect them too much. 2018 promises big things for the New Orleans Saints.
