3. A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

A.J. Brown is arguably the 2019 NFL Draft’s best receiving prospect coming into the 2018 college football season. Brown has great hands, he plucks the ball out of the air and hardly ever lets passes into his body. He rounds his routes too often and doesn’t have a ton of experience running the route tree, which is obviously a knock on him.

However, he does understand leverage and uses it to win 50-50 balls. He also has enough speed to separate underneath. The 6-1, 225-pound pass catcher is dangerous after the catch. He’s tenacious, powerful and has surprising quickness to make defensive backs miss when he’s not punishing them.

In 2017, Brown finished the year with 75 receptions for 1,252 yards and 11 touchdowns. Some defenses like LSU and Alabama held him in check last season, but he dominated other SEC defenses like Auburn. If he can continue develop as a route runner, he has potential to dominate at the next level.

Teams that don’t use tight ends as much will benefit from Brown’s talents and ability to work the middle of the field. He’s a powerful slot receiver with the skill-set to play on the boundary. Brown is also a willing blocker and when he’s engaged he drives his defender away from the play.
