New York Jets: 2018 Season preview, prediction and more
Record Prediction
The truth of the matter is that the Jets would prefer to get their pass rush from the inside, similar to what the Rams do in their scheme and what they did in 2015. With the development of Shepherd and the addition of Henry Anderson — who’s a decent pass rusher — combined with Leonard Williams, this defense is capable of having a pass rush from the interior rather than the edge.
In turn, that could help the coverage whether it’s forcing passes sooner or aiding in turnovers, this defense will develop into something special.
Many people think the offense is lacking weapons, but even thought they don’t have a “true No.1” target, they have a bunch of good options to go to. Darnold has also proven he’s a very accurate quarterback. With the tight ends emerging, their offense is complete from the passing side.
The zone running game will be just what the doctor ordered for this line and these runners. Both Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell have averaged over four yards per carry in their careers. So, this team may just be something to be reckoned with on offense in 2018.
The offense will win some games, and the defense will be the impetus for some wins. We’ve also seen rookies come in and do well, even with teams that lacked talent around them (see Andrew Luck).
