Marcus Cooper is playing for a roster spot

I wrote about Marcus Cooper a couple of weeks ago. He went from helping solidify the cornerback slot to getting embarrassed on a dumb play to struggling to get on the field.

Many thought Cooper wouldn’t survive the offseason after his 2017 struggles. The team brought him back, however. He had a chance to make up for last season, but he’s struggled a bit again and dealt with an injury.

Even so, Cooper still has a shot to make the team. I think the final spot goes to either him or Cre’von LeBlanc. The interesting thing is the Sherrick McManis makes the team but as a special teams player. The Bears may want to keep an extra corner who actually plays the corner.

This is an important game for Cooper. I feel he is on the outside looking in. If he has a good game, he makes the team. Even if he does, though, don’t expect him to play a lot of snaps.

Cooper just needs to not get burned or attract attention for something bad. If he gets attention for the wrong reason, he’s doomed. The coaches may look at some other players (such as Kevin Toliver II) and forget about Cooper.
