If the Dallas Cowboys decided to upgrade their backup quarterback situation behind Dak Prescott, here are five places they could look
It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys backup quarterbacks have yet to be too impressive this offseason. It’s kind of surprising considering how good Cooper Rush looked last season as the undrafted free agent took the team by storm.
He forced them to keep three quarterbacks under contract, knowing full well that he wouldn’t make it to the practice squad if he was released. He started out third on the chart behind Kellen Moore — who is now a quarterback coach for Dallas — but eventually moved his way to No. 2.
This season, he’s had some competition with rookie Mike White. He was highly respected coming out of Western Kentucky, but being a fifth-round pick, it was well known he wasn’t going to be entering this season challenging anyone’s job.
With both players looking like a work in progress, it’s led to speculation that the Cowboys could look to add some veteran help. With the New Orleans Saints recently trading for Teddy Bridgewater, it’s bringing the idea back to the forefront.
Here we will look at three options the Cowboys could consider if they do indeed decide to get Prescott a different backup.
