Offensive Preview

Before training camp, it seemed the Dallas Cowboys only had questions at wide receiver, but now entering the 2018 regular season there are not only questions at wide receiver, but also on the offensive line with injuries to three All-Pros in left tackle Tyron Smith, right guard Zack Martin and center Travis Frederick. This is a worst-case scenario if all three are unable to start the season healthy.

The one plus for the Cowboys is the duo of quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, who if on the field at the same time can be one of the more dangerous combinations in the entire league. Prescott is coming off a sophomore slump season where at times he underperformed and threw for fewer yards, fewer touchdowns and more interceptions than compared to his rookie season.

Some excitement for the roster is the unknown at wide receiver, where rookie Michael Gallup has stood out this preseason, plus there is the addition of Allen Robinson and Tavon Austin this offseason. Another change, besides Jason Witten retiring, was the Cowboys cut Dez Bryant as well, leaving a void that will be exciting to see filled by possibly Gallup or Robinson. Also back at wide receiver are Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams, who will be relied upon as well.

Success for the Cowboys will come down to just how healthy the offensive line stays and if the depth of the front five can fill in until the original Big 5 are all healthy and playing at the same time. Keep and eye on Connor Williams at guard and La’el Collins at guard, plus Joe Looney at center still gives this team a solid chance to bring a spark to the franchise this season.
