Preseason Week 4 can often be one of the harder games to watch. Teams rest their starters often as they preserve them for the all-important first game of the regular season. That should be the case in this one as the Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Jets on Thursday, Aug. 30.

For the Jets, those starters aren’t completely set in stone yet. At quarterback, there’s an interesting combination of players. Last season’s primary starter, Josh McCown, is still there but he’s preferred as the veteran backup.

No. 3 overall pick Sam Darnold should be the starter, but there’s also been some great play out of Teddy Bridgewater. The former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings has put a gruesome knee injury behind him and given the NFL reason to think he still has a long career ahead of him.

As for the Eagles, there’s no question that Carson Wentz is their starter under center. The only question is when he can play. Wentz tore his ACL late last season and watched Nick Foles guide the team to a Super Bowl win. Foles was great in the postseason but has struggled so far this preseason.

They’re also going to be without wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who is recovering from shoulder surgery. He’s expected to miss a couple of weeks, but Philly has shown resiliency in handling missing players. Their main goal on Thursday will be to keep from adding anyone else to the list of questionable players.
