NFL 2018: One roster cut each team should make, but won’t

Houston Texans: Braxton Miller
After years of desperately searching for a quarterback to potentially build the franchise around, the Houston Texans seem to have finally found their answer in Deshaun Watson when looking at how quickly he made an impact as a rookie last season before suffering a torn ACL. As frustrating as this was for the Texans to deal with at the time, the good news is Watson looks healthy heading into the regular season, and if all goes well, this team could return to the level as a top contender in the AFC.
With one of the league’s top targets in DeAndre Hopkins to work with, the Houston wideout will certainly make life much easier for Watson under center, as the duo should cause all sorts of problems for opposing defenses. Along with Hopkins, Watson will have plenty of great talent to work with on the Texans’ offense, and even though Braxton Miller seemed like a game changer at first, 34 catches in 21 games over his first two NFL seasons shows consistency has been an issue.
Since other receivers like Will Fuller and Bruce Ellington seem to be better options, Houston’s offense wouldn’t take that much of a hit if Miller were no longer around. Keeping him around for at least one more season may seem worth the shot, but it’s tough to imagine anything different compared to the last two years.
