Carolina Panthers: Julius Peppers

Following stints with the Bears and Green Bay Packers, Julius Peppers returned to the Carolina Panthers for the 2017 season, making plenty of fans happy to see the veteran return to the team he spent the first eight years of his NFL career playing for. Even more amazing, Peppers is coming off an impressive 2017 campaign in which he appeared in all 16 games while recording 11 sacks.

Thanks to contributions from Peppers on defense along with Cam Newton leading the way on offense, the Panthers were able to earn one of the Wild Card spots in the NFC before falling to the New Orleans Saints on Wild Card Weekend. Losing was obviously frustrating at the time, but at least from Carolina’s perspective, this gives the team hope over what could be in store for 2018, as the team looks to remain a strong contender in the conference.

As for Peppers, the Panthers have to wonder just how much longer the 38-year-old can be on the defensive side of the football, especially when factoring in how this was the first week he practice since last season as a result from shoulder surgery. Players the age of Peppers don’t always return to their old ways, and Carolina knows they may face a tough decision weighing a decision on their defensive veteran for roster cuts.
