The New York Giants thought that they might be setting up for another date with the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl heading into last season. As it turned out, the Giants were instead heading towards the worst season imaginable (sort of) as they ended up with the No. 2 pick, leaving the Patriots in the Big Game waiting for them. Now, however, we get these two teams facing off in Week 4 of the 2018 preseason on Thursday night.
After that awful year for the Giants, the hope is that they can get things on track. Eli Manning is back for another year, and he has his favorite weapon returning as well with Odell Beckham Jr. — fresh off signing a new deal — returning from injury last season. And perhaps most notably, the team added another big offensive weapons in No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley.
For the Patriots, we’re talking about the greatest dynasty perhaps in the four major sports. Tom Brady is back, Rob Gronkowski is back and so too is Bill Belichick. They simply run it back and no one seems able to fully stop them to this point. And until they do, you have to consider them one of the top contenders in the league.
