The Washington Redskins have their final preseason game on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. Some players have lots to prove.

The Washington Redskins enter their final preseason game on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens with most positions on the roster settled. As Washington heads up I-95 to face the Ravens, there are likely three, maybe four spots, currently still up for grabs. That means this preseason game is imperative to several young players trying to fulfill their NFL dreams.

The most compelling positions on Washington’s roster are running back, wide receiver, inside linebacker and safety. There could be some surprises in each of these groups. The injury to rookie running back Derrius Guice put the Redskins in a tough position at running back, which led to the team signing future Hall of Famer, Adrian Peterson. Second-year back Samaje Perine is battling Rob Kelley, Kapri Bibbs and Byron Marshall for one — or possibly two — spots on the roster.

Inside linebacker has a number of competitors looking to backup starters, Zach Brown and Mason Foster. Zach Vigil, Martrell Spaight, Josh Harvey-Clemons and Shaun Dion Hamilton are vying for two or three places on Washington’s final 53-man roster.

When someone tells you the fourth and final preseason game means nothing, that’s not true. For hundreds of hopefuls around the NFL it is perhaps their last opportunity to prove they belong in the league.
