The Dallas Cowboys finally ended an unimpressive and slow preseason schedule with the loss to the Houston Texans. Now it is time for America’s Team to get on track and be ready for the regular season.

Who are the real Dallas Cowboys? If one were to go by the preseason, it is tough to gauge because they played starters very little, we didn’t see Ezekiel Elliott at all and there are still injury questions that are unanswered one week before the regular season.

Thursday night saw the Cowboys lose to the Houston Texans, 14-6 in a game where neither team played their starters in final preseason action, as both squads worked on sorting out just who they wanted to keep on their 53-man roster with final cuts looming.

Here is the thing from the 0-4 preseason by the Cowboys: How confident are you with the depth of this roster? If one of the top starters were to be injured — and let’s face it, injuries will occur because they always do — are you confident in the backup quarterback situation or reserve offensive line roles? How about the depth on the defense, and will anyone be able to replace Jason Witten or even Dez Bryant at their former starting roles within the team?

Quarterbacks Mike White and Cooper Rush both have battled to be the top backup quarterback behind Dak Prescott, and on Thursday night neither one was that impressive with Rush throwing two interceptions and neither quarterback throwing a touchdown. When it comes to the two quarterbacks, which one has the most upside value moving forward?

As the final cuts are being made as we speak, here are three big takeaways from the Cowboys’ loss to the Texans in the final preseason game.
