4. Rashaad Penny, Seattle Seahawks

Current ADP: 102.8

I’m not going to sugarcoat this one for you — drafting Rashaad Penny is a risky move.

The potential is there for him to be a key piece of the Seattle Seahawks offense in 2018. There’s also the potential for him to spend most of the season picking up the scraps that Chris Carson leaves behind. It’s a situation that could pay dividends or leave you with a wasted pick.

Honestly, it’s all going to come down to two things. The first is whether or not Carson can stay healthy. The second is whether or not Penny can reassert himself as a dynamic weapon once he’s healthy himself.

Penny was receiving plenty of praise during the preseason. Then, he hurt his hand and Carson started wooing the coaching staff with his on-field performances. It quickly became clear that the 2017 seventh-round pick wasn’t going to make it easy for the rookie.

With that said, the Seahawks are going to give Penny touches. They didn’t spend a first-round pick on him to let him watch from the sidelines all season. The problem now is figuring out how many touches he’s going to get. If Carson shines like he did during his brief stint as the starter a season ago, Seattle may be forced to feed him early and often. That would be bad for Penny’s fantasy owners.

Draft him at your own risk. The potential is there, but Penny’s role is questionable at best.
