1. Bridgewater will learn from Brees

No matter when the time comes, Brees will be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football, and rightfully so when looking at some of the accomplishments put together throughout his career. In fact, it’s truly amazing to see Brees at his age continue to play at a MVP level, but even the best players eventually decide to call it a career after their bodies have taken enough hits.

Bridgewater may never step foot on the field as long as Brees is healthy, and still active in the NFL, but New Orleans even knows it may be time to begin preparing for the future. At some point, whether it’s after this season or two years down the road, there’s a good chance that Brees will no longer be a member of the Saints since retirement is right around the corner.

The Saints may consider younger quarterbacks over the next year or so to potentially build the offense around once the time comes for Brees to call it a career, but if the team feels confident enough in Bridgewater having a shot to be the answer, they’re not going to hesitate. With a great mentor in someone like Brees, Bridgewater can learn a lot from his new teammate throughout the 2018 season.

If Brees helps prepare him to be his eventual successor, this trade works out even more for Bridgewater since he has an opportunity to continue being part of a strong contender in the NFC.
