2. Carson Wentz

The Eagles enter the season with a lot of questions at the starting quarterback position. Incumbent starter Carson Wentz is still trying to recover from the season ending ACL injury he suffered last year. Nick Foles filled in heroically in his place, but has looked out of sorts this preseason.

Nobody outside the Eagles organization knows if Wentz will be the starter Week 1, but that doesn’t really matter. We do know that Wentz will be back at some point this season and that’s what is most important.

Wentz was having an MVP-type season before going down with an injury last year. Through only 13 games he had already thrown for over 3,000 yards with 33 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. He was the leader of a team with the best record in the NFC, at the time of his injury, and he still has more to prove.

As happy as Wentz was winning a Super Bowl last season, it had to be eating at him a little bit that he wasn’t the quarterback raising the Lombardi Trophy in triumph. He’s going to have the fight and will to win another Super Bowl this season, this time with him as the headliner.

While it’s common for teams to have a Super Bowl hangover, don’t expect it to happen for Wentz. He never got to play in the ultimate game and he’s going to do his best to get back to that point. Expect him to start back where he left off in 2017, assuming he is healthy. If he is healthy the Eagles will have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
