The Dallas Cowboys weren’t exactly predictable in the cuts they made getting their roster down to 53 players on Saturday. Here’s the final roster and instant reactions.

Whenever teams make their cuts down to 53 players there’s bound to be some surprise cuts. A lot of times with the Dallas Cowboys, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

It’s usually fringe guys like Lance Lenoir who are the most surprising cuts — which was the case this season for about five minutes. Then news broke that veteran kicker Dan Bailey was released by the team.

Social media blew up as fans were sad to see one of their favorites go in favor of an undrafted rookie. Such is the life of an NFL player.

That shocking move and more are discussed here as we look at the Cowboys final (for now) 53 man roster.

Special Teams (3): Brett Maher, Chris Jones, L.P Ladoceur

Brett Maher nailed a 57-yard kick on Thursday in the preseason finale and little did we all know that wouldn’t be the last big kick he would attempt in Big D. Bailey was money for years, but did struggle with health in 2017.

Looking objectively, it was probably the right move as they save money and are less likely have to worry about leaning on Jeff Heath like they did last year. Still, this doesn’t feel like a move they normally mak — times are changing in Dallas.
