The Los Angeles Rams have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. Everything is in place now thanks to the Aaron Donald contract extension.

On Aug. 31, the Los Angeles Rams finally ended the contract dispute they were having with Aaron Donald. They did so by agreeing to terms on a six-year, $135 million with the defensive tackle.

This is a team that has it’s franchise quarterback and running back set with Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. They also have one of the best offensive lines in football and a solid receiving group. Meanwhile, on defense Donald is joined by Marcus Peters and Ndamukong Suh, as well as other superstars.

Despite all this talent, and a fantastic coaching staff, something loomed over the team. It was the future of Donald. The contract disputes have been going on for a while, and if anything that makes it worse. He was still expected to play this season, but let’s not pretend like that wouldn’t have been a distraction.

As much as players like to pretend like it won’t be, that contract will be in their heads until they have the security. Not just Donald though – as one of the best players in football, it’s easy to assume this situation would creep into plenty of his teammates in the locker room. There would be a subtle distraction, something keeping the complete focus on winning.

That’s gone now though. One of the (if not the) best defensive players in football now knows where he’ll be playing for the next few seasons — in Los Angeles. The Rams have him locked up and are providing him with a loaded roster.

Now there should be nothing on the minds in that locker room but one thing. Winning. Winning, winning and more winning, all the way through the Super Bowl. I’m not saying the Los Angeles Rams will win it all this season. They do however have one less distraction and one massive talent with Aaron Donald officially on-board for another six years.
