The Chicago Bears made a number of moves to overhaul the roster. Was it enough to make them a contender? Here are five reasons why they make the playoffs in 2018.

The Chicago Bears had a productive offseason. Days after the 2017 season ended, general manager Ryan Pace made an effort to change their losing fortunes over his three years in Chicago.

He started out by firing head coach John Fox and hired Matt Nagy. Also, he brought in Mark Helfrich and Harry Hiestand to run the offense and help improve the offensive line. Furthermore, he kept defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to improve an already tough defense.

Pace then went on to add weapons for second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky by adding receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, and tight end Trey Burton. In the draft, he got linebacker Roquan Smith in the first round and offensive lineman James Daniels and wide receiver Anthony Miller in the second round.

All these moves were fine and dandy until Pace made his last and most bold move — trading for and signing Khalil Mack, arguably the best defensive player in the NFL.

Pace was busy and bold in remaking the roster. Did he accomplish his goal and field a winning team? Of course, we won’t know for sure until they start playing for real, but this looks like a strong roster, strong enough to compete.
