Vic Fangio has pieces to work with

With the addition of Mack, this can be one scary defense. This can be a similar defense to that of the San Francisco 49ers from between 2010 to 2013. Who was the defensive coordinator of those elite defenses? One Mr. Vic Fangio.

Despite injuries to key players last season, Fangio’s defense was top-ten. Now he has many assets to use to improve the defense even more. As I mentioned, you have a player like Lynch who can play either of the pass rushing sides. He can help spell Floyd and Mack, and not have to play too many snaps.

Fangio also has some young players he can mold. Rookies like Kylie Fitts, Bilal Nichols, and Joel Iyiegbuniwe can step in and help right away. Let’s not forget the eighth overall pick in this year’s draft, Roquan Smith. Add them to the veterans already on the defense and Fangio can be the chess master he’s always been.

This is a defense that is young and athletic with a good mixture of veterans. Fangio will move players around and disguise his scheme. He has the assets he needs to do what he did in San Francisco. That defense helped lead the team to the Super Bowl. Fangio can work his magic and do it once again in Chicago.
