Minnesota Vikings: 5 Bold predictions for the 2018 regular season
By Joe Kipp
2. Kirk Cousins posts final stat line of 4,400-32-12
If Kirk Cousins manages to pull this off, it could go down as the greatest season by a Vikings quarterback ever. During his time in Washington, Cousins never eclipsed more than 29 touchdowns, but his supporting cast was nothing like what he currently has in Minnesota. He did, however, amass more than 4,400 yards, managing a total of 4,917 in 2016.
With Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, Laquon Treadwell and Kyle Rudolph at his receiving-disposal, and Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray coming out of the backfield, Cousins’ current supporting cast could easily support a stat line of 4,400 yards and 32 touchdowns. 12 interceptions was the exact average over his three seasons as a starter for the Redskins, and looks to be a fair prediction going into 2018, as well.
The only thing that could prevent this prediction from coming true is the play of the offensive line. If Minnesota can find a way to keep Cousins upright for the majority of his drop backs (40 sacks or less), it should be no issue. That being said, the current state of the O-line is a cause for concern, but Cousins has the talent, moxie and supporting cast to get this done.
