Russell Wilson will lead the team in rushing again

Despite the return of Chris Carson and the addition of Rashaad Penny, I think Wilson will be the team’s best ground weapon for the second straight season. This is another bleak predication for the Seahawks, who are hoping the combination of Carson and Penny will return the team’s run game to its’ former glory.

In 2017 Wilson led the Seahawks in rushing yards with 586 yards and rushing touchdowns with three. In fact, the team only had one other rushing touchdown during the season and it was by J.D. McKissic. Mike Davis had the second most rushing yards on the team with 240. Wilson quite literally was the Seahawks offense, and he had so little help from his running backs that they might as well have not been there to begin with,

I don’t think 2018 will be as bad as 2017, but I don’t anticipate the resurgence that the Seahawks are hoping for. Carson showed flashes of ability in the preseason, but he failed to find consistency and also fumbled several times. Penny suffered an injury that will keep him sidelined for a little while and kept people from getting a good look at him during the preseason.

Both Carson and Penny will probably record somewhere between 400 and 600 rushing yards in 2018. They’re most likely going to end up in the 500s, just like Wilson last year. However, I think Seattle’s savior will outpace both rushers and continue to be the greatest pillar holding up the team’s subpar run game.
