2018 will be a very telling season for the young, rebuilding Seattle Seahawks. The team is one of the most likely dark horses to make waves in the postseason.

2017 was an admittedly disappointing season for the Seattle Seahawks. Their 9-7 record failed to get them into the playoffs and locker room tensions hit an all-time high. During the offseason, the Legion of Boom defense officially broke up and Seattle said goodbye to many long-time contributors. The offense also lost several pieces, creating more challenges for the team.

Despite the rough start to the offseason, the Seahawks rebounded fairly well and added a few pieces that we’ll discuss later. Overall, the team seems to be entering 2018 on a positive note, with high hopes that young players will develop into full-fledged stars. A lot of the players on the team lack experience and the 2018 season will teach them a lot.

In the end, this season will be a big learning process for young players. Because of this, I think the team is actually set up with a better chance to make the playoffs in the coming seasons. Right now they’re kind of caught in a transition period between their old and new selves.

But in 2019, the process will become a lot smoother and clearer. By then, a new locker room and culture will be in place and the team will be refreshed with new bodies, eager to for a championship.

However, let’s not write off the 2018 season just yet. The Seahawks still have a bunch of talented players and they plan on returning to the postseason. It certainly won’t be easy, but don’t count out the rebuilding Seahawks just yet. They’re planning on surprising everyone.
