QB: DeShaun Watson, Houston Texans, $8,200

Average FanDuel Points Per Week: 25.3
Opponent: New England Patriots

As I’ve already mentioned, I’m all about the matchups. That’s how you win in daily fantasy football — maximize potential by playing the matchups. This is a perfect example of going with the player that gives you the most upside on Sunday.

Deshaun Watson may be returning from a torn ACL, but he’s a star in the making. As we saw during his few starts in 2017, he has the potential to take this Houston Texans team to new heights. This will be his first opportunity in 2018 to convince NFL fans everywhere that his rookie performance wasn’t a fluke.

That’s great, but what makes him a top fantasy option? Well for one, he’s got an outstanding arm paired with tremendous athleticism. The two attributes fair well when it comes to racking up big points, both on the scoreboard and for fantasy owners. Again, just look at some of his rookie-season performances for evidence of his upside.

Secondly, he’s going up against the New England Patriots. Their pass defense was among the worst in 2017, and may have actually gotten worse this offseason. With Tom Brady slinging it on the other side, expect this to be a high-scoring affair providing plenty of opportunities for Watson.

Other top options: Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints, $8,400; Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars, $6,600
