I was already uncertain about this season for the Oakland Raiders. Now, with Mack gone and Jon Gruden clearly bent on sabotaging this franchise’s future, I wouldn’t be surprised if things got off to an ugly start for the Silver and Black.
That’s why I’m rolling with the Los Angeles Rams, who should walk away from Week 1 with a huge win.
The Raiders defense may have been rebuilt, but that doesn’t mean much. Without Mack terrorizing quarterbacks, it’ll be even more difficult for the Oakland cornerbacks to keep opposing receivers in check. An initial test against Jared Goff and has band of exceptional pass catchers could have embarrassing results.

Meanwhile, look for the Rams’ well-rounded roster to prove its own worthiness in Week 1. Los Angeles went out and made moves this offseason to ensure their continued contendership. An early-season blowout of the Raiders may not mean a whole lot, but it’ll certainly give them a boost in the momentum and confidence departments.
Prediction: Rams win 37-13
