Minnesota Vikings: 3 Reasons they’ll definitely win Super Bowl 53
1. That elite defense
You know all of those defensive players I just mentioned? Yeah, they’re all part of arguably the NFL’s best defense heading into 2018. As the old saying goes: defense wins championships.
Although they couldn’t quite pull it off a season ago, 2017’s top-ranked defense actually got better this offseason. With the additions of Sheldon Richardson, Mike Hughes and George Iloka, and potential breakouts of Stephen Weatherly and Jaleel Johnson, the Vikings are primed for a historic season.
So much so that, barring a slew of injuries, they should have no problem slowing any offense that dares take them on. They won’t be afraid of Carson Wentz/Nick Foles and the Eagles attack. No sleep will be lost ahead of their showdown with Drew Brees and the Saints. Even the Rams’ loaded offense poses little threat to the Minnesota’s plan of winning a Super Bowl.
This year, I’m expecting bigger sack and interception totals, fewer yards and points allowed and similarly successful third-down stands. If the group can stay relatively healthy throughout the year, it could easily turn in one of the best defensive campaigns in NFL history.
We’ve seen what elite defenses can do when it comes to chasing a Lombardi Trophy. The Vikings have one, which will play a pivotal role in the team’s eventual Super Bowl 53 victory.
