Defense

Start

New Orleans Saints vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers– The Saints have one of the best, young defenses in the league. New Orleans forced 25 turnovers in 2017, and should look forward to more scoring opportunities with a back-up quarterback running a Tampa Bay offense that lacks any true threats behind Mike Evans.

Tennessee Titans vs Miami Dolphins– Simply put, the Dolphins just aren’t a dynamic offense to worry about. A Titans defense that scored over double digits in ten match-ups should keep this a low scoring contest, leaving room for a safe fantasy floor to plug and play this defense in week one.

Sit

Houston Texans vs New England Patriots– With a healthy JJ Watt, the Texans defense has the capability to be one of the top units in the league. However, the Texans have a show-down with Tom Brady and company, a match-up that typically doesn’t end too well for fantasy defenses. Keep Houston on your roster for the stretch of the season, but if you’re looking to absolutely secure a win in week one, the Texans are simply not a viable option.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons– The Eagles will play host to the Atlanta Falcons as the league’s 2018 season kicks off. This game looks to be more promising than the 15-10 score seen in the playoffs last year, as Julio Jones and company look to recreate their offensive dominance. The Eagles defense isn’t absolutely avoidable, yet the Falcons have the capability of running numbers up on the scoreboard, which doesn’t give fantasy owners a warm feeling.
