Week 10: vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers swept the Raiders last year but remember the circumstances. Carr missed one full game, played this team with broken bones in his back, and the Raiders only lost by one point in the first meeting.

Oakland will avoid a sweep in consecutive seasons. Miller and Penn should have their feet under them 10 weeks into the year. It’s hard to trust Tom Cable because of his poor history of protecting quarterbacks, but the coaching staff would likely move Penn back to the blindside if Miller struggles tremendously this late in the campaign.

Similar to Week 5, the Raiders will attack the Chargers with a run-heavy game plan. Keep an eye on Cook in the passing attack against the linebacker corps. Oakland wins a physical matchup to split the season series.

Prediction: Win | Score: 24-23 | Record: 5-4

Week 11: at Arizona Cardinals

The Raiders could see rookie quarterback Josh Rosen in this matchup. Sam Bradford missed 14 games with a knee injury in 2017, and the Arizona Cardinals don’t have the strongest offensive line—hello Bruce Irvin.

Whether it’s Rosen or Bradford under center, Guenther must game plan for running back David Johnson as a ball-carrier and receiver out of the backfield. Conley, Melvin or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie should be able to at least limit Larry Fitzgerald after the catch. The 35-year-old wideout’s yards-per-reception averages hit career-lows in each of the last two seasons.

The coaching staff should place a bullseye on the Nos. 2 and 3 cornerbacks on the field. The Cardinals will move cover man Patrick Peterson around the secondary throughout the year, per Kyle Odegard of the team’s official website. Nonetheless, Carr should find favorable matchups with Jamar Taylor, Bene Benwikere or undrafted rookie Deatrick Nichols.

Prediction: Win | Score: 30-21 | Record: 6-4
