2. Nelson Agholor is poised for a big year

Somehow, even with how bad Foles played, one Eagles receiver had a solid night in the office, and that was Nelson Agholor. The former first-round pick by the Eagles had a terrible rookie season, which led to many, including myself, to write him off. But instead of becoming a bust in Philly, Agholor turned it around in his second season, balling out and scoring eight touchdowns.

Without Alshon Jeffery in Week 1, it was interesting to see which wide receiver would step up. Agholor was that guy. Agholor caught eight passes on a team-high 10 targets. Those eight catches only went for a sad 33 yards, but that was more to do with how bad Foles played than Agholor. He also caught two other passes that were negated by penalties, which would give him 12 targets and 10 catches for the game.

With Jeffery’s health still in question, and Foles needing a receiver to trust, look for Agholor to be the go-to guy in the passing game. It is obviously only one game, but Agholor is on pace for a big year catching the ball. And once Wentz is back, the yards and touchdowns should follow.

Agholor also had his own “Philly Philly” or “Philly Special” when he took a pitch and threw a perfect pass to Foles for 15 yards. He also had one rush for 16 yards, giving him 64 total yards for the game, which was the most (outside of Foles’ 117 yards).
