Green Bay Packers: 5 Bold predictions for the 2018 season
The Green Bay Packers look to return to dominance after a surprising 7-9 campaign. From playoff predictions to individual stats, here are five bold predictions for the 2018 season.
It was a disappointing 2017 to be a Green Bay Packers fan, to say the least. What looked to be another year with a deep playoff run ended in week six when Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Packers look to regain their NFC North crown and start a new playoff appearances streak now that Aaron Rodgers is healthy and ready to compete once again. Now with all-star tight end, Jimmy Graham, an emerging star in Davante Adams, veteran Randall Cobb, Geronimo Allison, and three very talented rookie wide receivers, Rodgers looks to dominate the NFL like he always has once again.
The defense has improved tremendously over the offseason too. The first improvement was firing longtime defensive coordinator Dom Capers. Then subsequently hiring former Browns head coach Mike Pettine. That move also brought in former New York Jet, Muhammad Wilkerson.
Then new GM Brian Gutekunst finessed the New Orleans Saints out of a draft pick all while still getting the player they wanted all along, Jaire Alexander. Then they were able to get Josh Jackson, who fell down the draft and practically landed in the Packers lap for the 45th overall pick.
Bringing back Tramon Williams is a huge addition too. Not only will he be a starter and contribute right away, he is a veteran presence and will be a role model for all the young players on the team.
Overall, it has been one of the busiest offseasons we have seen in Green Bay. That doesn’t necessarily translate to success on the field, but on paper, this team is one of the scariest in the league. Whenever you have Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, you have a great chance of winning.
