Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) at New York Giants

Looking at last season for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants, you’re talking about two completely different narratives. The Jags had a little buzz about their defense entering the year, but no one believed them. Of course, they went on to play in the AFC Championship Game. Meanwhile, the Giants were a darling after a strong 2016 and then put up a stinker last year, going 3-13 for the season.

New York should be much improved this season while Jacksonville returns the band to try and do it again. I truly believe the Giants will be improved and that, for Blake Bortles reasons, the Jaguars will take a step back. Even with that, I don’t think that Big Blue’s offensive line is improved enough to handle what Jacksonville can throw at them. It’s not going to be a pretty game, but I think the Jags pull off a road win by more than a field goal.

Houston Texans at New England Patriots (-6)

Every Houston Texans fan is counting their blessings that Deshaun Watson is back and healthy to start the 2018 NFL season. What’s more, they have more to count with JJ Watt returning to the defense. As such, the Texans are a team that could compete in the AFC South this season. Interestingly enough, they’re coming up against a New England Patriots team with questions on defense, the offensive line and at wide receiver to start the year.

Haven’t we heard that before though? Granted, those questions tend to arise if New England stumbles early, but the questions are already there. Subsequently, I believe that the Patriots with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady again make everyone look silly for doubting them. They aren’t a dynasty for nothing and I think they show just why that’s the case with a nice win at home.
